Palak Moong Dal: Indian Food Recipes : Introduction to Indian Palak Moong Dal

Hi. My name is Carrie Hunt and on behalf of
Expert Village today I’m going to show you how to make Palak Moong. Today we’re going
to be cooking Palak Moong which is an Indian Dal meal. Indian cuisine is characterized
by its sophisticated and subtle spices. The primary, the staples of Indian diet are rice,
atta, which is wheat flour and pulses, which are legumes and lentils and beans And a dal
is when you take the lentils or the legumes or beans and you cook it until it becomes
creamy and soft kind of like a porridge in consistency. Most Indian meals are vegetarian
due to the Hinduism religion and Jain and all the things that stem out from that. And
so, today, this is going to be a vegetarian meal. But if you want you can always add some
lamb or chicken to this meal. It?s very good that way. The bean we’re using today is a
mung bean. We aren’t going to split it or halve it, like you’d do in a normal dals because
the ming bean is very big and creamy on its own so we don’t need to split it. So if you
want to get ready, we’re going to start cooking.
